HelloFresh Review: Easy, Convenient, Healthy

After my veggie cleanse in January, I started thinking about how to prepare healthier meals on a more consistent basis. Enter: HelloFresh


HelloFresh is a service that hand-picks and delivers simple recipes and fresh ingredients so customers can cook their own meals each week without having to worry about recipe planning or grocery shopping.

Customers have the choice of vegetarian-only meals ($59/week) or meals that include meat and fish ($69/week), and they can pick the number of servings they want (2, 4 or 6) for each of their 3 meals. A box is delivered the same day every week (for me it was Wednesday) with ice packs inside of an insulated bag to keep the food chilled.

When I first signed up for HelloFresh there were some complications with delivery (which was my own fault since I accidentally typed in the wrong address), but I think the customer service team handled it well enough for me to try the service again. I signed up for the vegetarian option, which came with ingredients for: Grilled Vegetable Tostadas, Vegetable Bibimbop and a Squash & Chickpea Stew.

Everything was great and super easy to make, thanks to the simple recipe sheets provided (example in the photo to the left). The front had an overview of the ingredients and tools you need, nutritional information (calories, carbs, fat, protein) and a photo of what the finished dish should look like. Then the back has step by step instructions with photos so you know exactly what to do, which was helpful for a novice chef like me. One of the best perks of the service is that you get just enough food for the meals, with maybe a little leftover.

I honestly could not be happier with everything, so I ordered another box this week. Definitely recommend!
